I served as a Fire Captain during the recent fires in Southern California. I was assigned to a Structure Protection Group Strike Team 1800A with the California Office of Emergency Services. My engine - OES E-264 came from La Habra Heights Fire Department in Los Angeles County. A Strike Team is made up of 5 engines with a Battalion Chief. We where dispatched at noon on Sunday, October 21st to the Malibu Fires. We worked to protect homes in the hills above PCH for 2 days then we went to the Poomacha Fire in North San Diego County. Arriving Tuesday evening at the Poomacha Fire, we assisted in structure protection of homes in Valley Center and the surrounding area. After the initial fires where knocked down we handled hot spots and mop up duties until we returned on Monday, October 29. The following are some of the images I took at the fires.
